Due to the rise of
confirmed cases of coronavirus in the State, the Lagos State Health Management
Agency LASHMA on Tuesday launched the “Eko Telemed” platform to treat health
issues that are not related to Coronavirus infection. The Telemedicine
initiative is to cater for other health matters not related to COVID-19 pandemic.
The Eko Telemedicine
which took off today, Wednesday would provide 24/7 health care online to Lagos
residence during the pandemic.
According to the
Director-General of LASHMA, Emmanuella Zamba, this initiative is aimed at
protecting Lagos citizens and reducing their risk of contracting the COVID-19
infection. She further stated that residents will be able to access
highly-trained physicians for non-emergency primary care consultation via voice
or video call on whatsapp.
The toll-lines that
will be provided would enable residents to converse with doctors in any of the
four major languages- English, Yoruba, Igbo and Hausa.
